Tips for a Family Holiday in Sydney
Sydney is a world class city with attractions to suit people of all ages, budgets and tastes. All in all it is a wonderful place for a family holiday. That does not mean that you can afford to be complacent when planning your trip, however. Taking care to organise your budget, arrange some activities for the children and pick the right location for your stay will make a huge difference. Fortunately when it comes to accommodation, you will have plenty of choice. There are plenty of Sydney serviced apartments and hotels that cater well to families, so you should have no problem finding the right one to suit your needs.
Picking the right location is important for any holiday. This is particularly true when you are travelling with children and are staying in a big city like Sydney. The last thing you want is to be staying in the wrong place and having to struggle across the city every day with the kids in tow. There are places to stay all over Sydney, but two areas stand out clearly above all others: the CBD and the beaches. Beach suburbs such as Bondi and Coogee have accommodation to suit families and the obvious attractions of sand and surf make them an appealing option. The CBD arguably has more to offer however. Stay in the city centre and you will have most of Sydney’s iconic attractions on your doorstep. There is plenty for kids to do too. The Sydney Aquarium is a highlight of any family holiday, the IMAX cinema is exciting for all ages and older children can even join their parents in climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You are also perfectly placed to access attractions elsewhere in the city such as Taronga Zoo and, of course, the beaches.
When holidaying with children it is a good idea do a little research in advance and plan some activities for immediately after your arrival. This will take the pressure off you to find ways of entertaining them when you first arrive, which will ultimately lead to a more relaxing start to your holiday. Luckily, in Sydney this is easy. With so many attractions available you are bound to find something close to your hotel to keep the little angels entertained.
Once you have decided where in the city you wish to stay and what your budget is, it is time to choose your accommodation. With hundreds of Sydney apartments and hotels to choose from this can seem a daunting task. The key is to narrow it down as much as possible before you start looking at the options. Location and budget play a big role so think about these things first and you will be already well on your way. The next thing to consider is what you require in terms of facilities. On a family holiday it is useful to be able to prepare some meals yourself, so apartments with full kitchen facilities may be a better option than conventional hotel rooms. Other facilities that can be important for families include baby sitting services, parking and swimming pools.
