How to Choose Your Sydney Accommodation
When planning a holiday in Sydney, choosing where to stay is one of the most important things to consider. Selecting the right accommodation will have a huge impact on how successful your holiday is. Fortunately, Sydney serviced apartments and hotels are in such abundance that you will have plenty of options to choose from. If you know what you are looking for, therefore, you will be able to find the perfect place for you and your family. Here are a few of the questions you should ask yourself when making this big decision.
What is the best location for you?
Location should be a critical factor in your choice of accommodation. Sydney is a big place, so if you book yourself into a hotel in the wrong part of the city, a long way from where you intend to spend your time, you will end up feeling like a commuter rather than a holiday maker. For most people this means choosing somewhere in the heart of the CBD. Stay in the heart of Sydney and you will have highlights such as The Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Opera House and the Rocks on your doorstep, not to mention the bars, restaurants and tourist attractions of Darling Harbour as well. And if you want a change of scene, Sydney’s iconic Bondi beach is just a short drive or bus ride away.
What is your budget?
You need to know how much money you can afford to spend if you are to choose the right accommodation. It is a good idea to set a budget for your entire holiday as soon as you start planning and then allocate a portion for your hotel or apartment. Try not to go over budget, however tempting it is, as it will only end up meaning that you have to watch the pennies during the holiday itself, which is never much fun. Look for hotel special offers, particularly out of season, and last minute deals to make the most of your accommodation dollars.
Do you need parking?
Parking in Sydney can be a real problem, so if you are going to have a car with you on your holiday, it is worth checking out your parking options before you make a firm booking. Some hotels have onsite parking facilities, but it is not something you can take for granted. There is nothing more annoying that arriving at your accommodation, only to find that you have to start driving around the city looking for a parking space, before you can unpack the car and start enjoying your holiday.
What facilities do you require?
It is worth remembering that not all Sydney apartments and hotels provide the same guest facilities, so you need to decide what is important to you and check whether it is provided. Think about whether you need a swimming pool or a fitness centre, for example, as these things are available in many, but by no means all, accommodation options. Similarly, if you want to be able to cook your own meals, an apartment with full kitchen facilities would be a better choice than a standard hotel room. Other facilities you might like to think about include a babysitting service, 24 hour reception and satellite TV.
