Family Fun in Sydney
There is so much for the family to enjoy in our sunny harbour city of Sydney. Not only is there beautiful weather, great surf beaches and plenty of great shopping–there are also museums, aquariums and so many festivals that you’re bound to find something for every taste. Travelling as a family, it’s often better to choose an apartment rather than a hotel room so that you have the freedom and flexibility to cook for the kids at home, and luckily, Sydney serviced apartments are not only plentiful, they’re among the best quality in Australia. Here, we provide a few pointers on things you need to see and do for a brilliant family holiday in Sydney. Enjoy!
For a family visiting Sydney, Darling Harbour holds an incredible array of attractions within a very small area. Cockle Bay wharf is lined with beautiful restaurants and bars, and of course not far away you’ll find the Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife World, where you can get up close and personal with a range of native marine life…and some creepy crawlies that live on land as well! A few minute’s walk away you’ll find the Imax theatre, a state of the art cinema specialising in 3D movies. Then there’s Paddy’s Markets, for all your souvenir needs, as well as the bustling Chinatown where you’re sure to get a delicious and cheap feed!
Bondi is a must-see for any family on holiday in Sydney. With a safe, patrolled beach (stay between the flags to avoid finding yourself on the reality TV show Bondi Rescue!) and a row of shops and restaurants across the road for a post-swim ice cream, Bondi is a day of fun in the sun for everyone. There’s also a little kid’s pool at North Bondi, and at the southern end of the beach, the iconic Bondi Icebergs pool. You can take the kids on a scenic walk along the Bondi–Coogee walk, which takes in Tamarama Beach and Bronte Beach, as well as a range of quaint little bays and smaller beaches along the way.
The Rocks is the most historic area of Sydney and it is both educational and entertaining for the kids to have a look. Set at the base of the Harbour Bridge (which you can climb if you’re game), the Rocks boasts markets, boutiques and wonderful cafes.
Sydney is a wonderful destination for a family holiday both for its blend of outdoor and indoor fun and its ability to please everyone at once. Whether you’re whiling away the hours on the beach or coming face to face with a shark (hopefully with a thick plate of aquarium glass between you!), Sydney is sure to impress. And with a huge range of Sydney apartments geared especially for family holidays, accommodation will be a cinch as well. What are you waiting for?
